Sandy Bay

Sandy Bay is as wild as the Atlantic Seaboard gets. There's no road to it, no buildings on it, and no development behind it — just a long ribbon of white sand backed by dunes and fynbos, hemmed in by granite boulders at either end.

On land, the only way in is a 20-minute footpath from Llandudno. By boat, you simply arrive — which is exactly how this beach is best experienced. Sandy Bay has also long been known as Cape Town's unofficial naturist beach, with a live-and-let-live culture and plenty of space for everyone.

Because it faces away from the city with zero light or noise around it, Sandy Bay feels genuinely remote — seals and dolphins often cruise past, and on a still day the anchorage feels like your own private bay.
